1. Overview
Dibs is a local-first app. We don’t collect, store, or process any personal data on our servers. All information you add (people, amounts, descriptions, and settings) is saved only on your device.
2. Information We Collect
We do not collect any personal information. There are no accounts, no cloud sync, no ads, and no analytics. Your debts and people never leave your device unless you choose to share them.
The app makes one kind of request to the internet: it downloads a public file of daily exchange rates, used to convert debts in other currencies. That request carries no information about you or your debts. As with any internet connection, the server can see your device’s IP address; we don’t use it to identify you. Everything else works offline.
3. Local Storage and Access
Your data is stored locally on your device using the app’s on-device database. If you add Dibs widgets, the balances they show are shared with the widget on the same device only. You can delete your data at any time by clearing the app’s data or uninstalling the app.
4. Permissions
Dibs only asks for permissions it needs for features you turn on: notifications for reminders, and Face ID, Touch ID or your device’s biometrics for the optional app lock. Reminder notifications are scheduled on your device and do not transmit any data. Biometric checks are handled by your phone’s operating system; Dibs never receives your biometric data.
5. Purchases and Information Sharing
Dibs Premium is bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play. The store processes the payment under its own privacy policy, and we never receive your payment details. The app only asks the store whether Premium has been purchased.
Because we don’t collect data, we don’t share data. We do not sell, trade, or transfer your information to third parties. There are no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs in the app. When you send a reminder or share a card, it goes only to the app or person you choose.
6. Security
We rely on your device’s built-in security to protect your data, and you can add the optional app lock in Dibs. We recommend using a device passcode and enabling any available system-level protections. Your debts are never sent over the internet, so there is no transmission of them to secure.
7. Your Control
You have full control over your information. You can view, edit, and delete entries at any time within the app. Uninstalling the app will remove the app’s local data from your device.
8. Children’s Privacy
Dibs does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children. If you believe a minor has provided information within the app that you wish to remove, you can delete it directly on the device or uninstall the app.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect product or legal changes. If we do, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above. Because the app does not collect contact details, we cannot notify users directly.
